Personnel Changes: NFP Expands Benefits Team by Adding Two Following Acquisition of Their Businesses

NFP, an Aon company, has strengthened its benefits team by bringing in two seasoned leaders, Mark Carroll and Bill Schmidt. Both will serve as vice presidents of Benefits in NFP’s Atlantic region. Based in northern Virginia, they will report to Katie McLaughlin, senior vice president of Benefits.

Bill Schmidt comes with 30 years of experience managing benefits for businesses and individuals around the Washington, D.C. area. He co-founded Small Business Insurance Solutions, Inc. (SBIS) alongside Mark Carroll and previously led the company as its president. With Schmidt’s arrival, NFP has also acquired SBIS’s business operations.

Mark Carroll also boasts three decades of experience in the D.C. metro area, focusing on small and midsize businesses. Before joining NFP, he was a managing partner at Capital Group Benefits (CGB). As part of this move, Carroll is selling his ownership stake in CGB, and NFP will take over his book of business.

This expansion shows NFP’s commitment to growing its benefits division in a key region by bringing in trusted leaders with deep local experience. Adding Carroll and Schmidt not only brings valuable expertise but also strengthens relationships with a broad client base in the area.
