Tornado Causes Damage to Over 100 Homes Near Houston

A tornado touched down outside Houston on Monday, damaging more than 100 homes but causing no injuries, officials said. The storm hit the Memorial Northwest neighborhood, leaving roofs stripped of shingles and debris scattered across roads.

Videos and photos shared by the Harris County Precinct 4 constable showed the extent of the damage. The Houston Fire Department sent a saw team to clear fallen trees and help with cleanup. Rustin Rawlings, a department spokesperson, confirmed their swift response to the scene.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch covering southeastern Texas, including the Houston area, through early Tuesday morning. They also put out a severe thunderstorm warning for nearby regions.

Residents of Memorial Northwest are now assessing the damage and beginning repairs. Despite the destruction, the quick emergency response and the fact that no one was hurt brought relief to the community. Local volunteers have joined in to help neighbors like Guillermo Vargas, whose home was damaged, as they recover from the storm’s impact.
