Allstate Expands Support for Student-Athletes Across All Sports
NORTHBROOK, Ill., Oct. 28, 2024 – Allstate has unveiled an exciting new initiative aimed at enhancing its support for college athletics, broadening its focus to include all sports and all student-athletes. This move builds on Allstate’s rich history in college sports, particularly through its renowned Good Hands field goal nets program and the Good Works Team, which have both played significant roles in promoting athletic and academic success.
Creating New Opportunities for Student-Athletes
As Allstate celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Good Hands nets in 2025, the company is set to amplify its contributions to student-athletes. The Good Hands nets have become a staple in college football, contributing millions of dollars to scholarship funds over the years. Starting immediately, Allstate will increase its donations for each field goal and extra point scored during games, directing these funds specifically to scholarships for student-athletes in all sports. This initiative aims to provide a more inclusive financial support system, empowering athletes to thrive both on and off the field.
Expanding Community Impact Through the Good Works Team
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team has traditionally recognized 22 college football players annually for their contributions to their communities. However, beginning this winter sports season, Allstate is partnering with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) to expand this program significantly. The expanded Good Works Team will now honor an additional 60 student-athletes across various sports seasons—winter, spring, and fall—highlighting the community impact of athletes in all disciplines. This expansion underscores Allstate’s commitment to recognizing and supporting the charitable efforts of student-athletes beyond football.
A Commitment to Character and Community
Elizabeth Brady, Allstate’s Chief Marketing, Customer, and Communications Officer, expressed the company’s philosophy: “We believe strength of character on the field means strength of character in the world.” This sentiment reflects Allstate’s desire to build on its nearly two-decade legacy in college sports, providing student-athletes with opportunities to excel academically and athletically, regardless of their sport. The initiative aims to extend the Good Hands purpose beyond the scoreboard, fostering a culture where student-athletes can make a meaningful difference in their communities.
Amplifying the Message with Holly Rowe
To further enhance the impact of these initiatives, Allstate has teamed up with award-winning sports journalist and broadcaster Holly Rowe. Rowe, known for her insightful commentary on college sports, will help amplify the stories of student-athletes making a difference. “College sports help shape the character and resilience of student-athletes,” Rowe stated. “The lessons learned on the court, field, pool, or track extend far beyond competition – they foster leadership, perseverance, and a commitment to community.” Her partnership with Allstate aims to shine a light on the contributions of student-athletes, particularly women, who embody these values.
Allstate’s Longstanding Legacy in College Sports
Allstate has been a vital player in the college sports landscape for nearly 20 years, supporting various university and conference sponsorships, academic scholarships, and community initiatives. This January marks the 19th year of Allstate’s title sponsorship of the Allstate Sugar Bowl, a significant event in college football that connects Allstate with fans, student-athletes, and communities alike. Since 2008, Allstate has also championed the Good Works Team, focusing on issues like mental health, youth empowerment, hunger relief, and domestic abuse prevention.
