Personnel Updates: Wilson Appointed Deputy Chair of Argenta Syndicate Management as Whiter Resigns; Specialty MGA UK Welcomes Hussain as Head of Political and Credit Risk.

Argenta Syndicate Management and Specialty MGA UK have both made significant leadership changes recently, signaling new directions for their operations.

Paul Wilson has been appointed as the new deputy chair of Argenta Syndicate Management Ltd. (ASML), a London-based subsidiary of Hannover Re. His appointment is pending regulatory approval. Wilson will take over as chair of ASML from John Whiter, who will step down on July 1, 2025, after 16 years in the role. Wilson brings a wealth of experience, having spent over 35 years in financial services. He has held leadership positions at Bain & Co. and served as a non-executive director for several companies, including AXA XL and Brewin Dolphin. His expertise lies in governance and strategic leadership, making him well-suited to guide ASML into its next phase. Under Whiter’s leadership, ASML expanded its underwriting capabilities significantly, managing £800 million in underwriting capacity.

In another development, Specialty MGA UK has welcomed Amir Hussain as the head of Political and Credit Risk. This new role comes as the company launches a new business line aimed at establishing a strong presence in the political risk market. Hussain has a background as a credit analyst at Barclays and has experience underwriting for Lloyd’s syndicates. He specializes in political risk and credit risk management. Initially, his focus will be on building a solid book of business, with plans to expand the team and increase market capacity over time. The chairman of MNK Group, Manoj Kumar, expressed confidence in Hussain’s ability to grow the business in a time of rising global demand for political risk coverage.

Both appointments reflect the companies’ commitments to strengthening their leadership teams and expanding their market capabilities.
