Liberty Specialty Markets and the broker BMS have both made notable moves to strengthen their teams in the insurance and reinsurance sectors.
Liberty Specialty Markets, part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, recently added three new experts to its energy division. Alex Nelson steps in as underwriting manager for power and renewables, bringing experience from his previous role overseeing onshore energy at Chaucer Group. Andrea Ciraci and Oliver Prout join as senior underwriters. Ciraci brings nine years of experience from AXA and AXA XL, where she worked on power, renewables, downstream, and managed the UK nuclear portfolio. Prout has seven years in the London market, focused on lead renewable energy contracts, most recently also at Chaucer. Together, these appointments aim to boost Liberty’s offerings in power and renewables as demand rises. They will report to James Boyle, head of energy at Liberty Specialty Markets.
Over at BMS, the London-based independent re/insurance broker, Kian Wookey has been promoted to managing director for Bermuda Product Line Development. In this new position, Wookey will be based in Bermuda and will report to Mark Lawson, managing director for North American Direct & Facultative. Wookey joined BMS in 2019 and previously spent six years as a director in their property team. Before that, he was a partner at JLT Specialty and started his career at Lloyd & Partners. While he will continue with property, his role now includes a wider focus on growing BMS’s product range in Bermuda and rolling out new insurance products there. Ian Gormley, BMS’s UK CEO, said Wookey’s skills will help the company offer better solutions to its clients in the region.
Both Liberty Specialty Markets and BMS appear to be positioning themselves for growth by reinforcing their teams with experienced professionals in key areas. These latest hires and promotions signal a clear focus on energy, renewables, and expanding product lines in important markets.
