Brecht & Associates is celebrating a big milestone this year as it marks 25 years in business on October 1, 2025. What began as a simple idea in the 1980s has grown into a well-respected independent managing general agency (MGA) guided by three generations of the Brecht family.
The company started with Bill Brecht working solo. Over time, his daughter Nicole Sopkin joined, bringing her experience as an office manager from Minnesota to Texas to help get the company’s operations running smoothly. Bill’s wife, Jennifer, soon came on board to handle back-office tasks. Nicole’s husband, Mike, became part of the team as well and focused on transportation. Together, they laid the groundwork for growth under Bill’s leadership.
The family legacy didn’t stop there. In the mid-2010s, Nicole and Mike’s daughter, Carissa, also joined, making it a true three-generation family business. This has secured a clear path for the company’s future.
In a recent leadership update, Jennifer Brecht was named President earlier this year, while Bill remains Chairman and CEO. The team shares a strong commitment to delivering value to the carriers and agencies they work with.
Bill Brecht reflects on the journey with gratitude. He honors the first company that trusted them and the agents who supported their work. For him, seeing family members continue and grow the business brings immense pride.
