Containment Increases on Southern California Wildfire as Evacuation Orders Are Lifted

A wildfire that started Saturday afternoon in San Bernardino County, California, is now 25% contained after burning 485 acres. The fire, known as the Lake Fire, broke out north of Crestline and Lake Arrowhead. Thankfully, no one has been hurt, and no buildings have been damaged.

Fire crews made steady progress throughout Sunday. Early evacuation orders were lifted as firefighters worked quickly to control the blaze. Around 525 personnel have been assigned to fight the fire, and air tankers from across California have been helping from above.

CalFire reports that the fire is no longer spreading forward. Crews are focusing on strengthening control lines around the areas still burning. For safety, Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area remains closed to visitors.

The swift response from firefighters and support teams helped prevent the fire from growing larger. Residents can breathe a little easier now, but officials continue to monitor the situation closely.
