Gaines Appointed as Nevada Insurance Commissioner

Ned Gaines has officially taken on the role of commissioner at the Nevada Division of Insurance. He had been filling the position in an acting capacity since early July. The appointment was made by Kristopher Sanchez, the head of Nevada’s Department of Business and Industry.

Gaines brings over 25 years of experience to the job. He started with the Nevada Division of Insurance as the chief deputy commissioner just a few months ago, in April. Before joining Nevada, he spent 12 years working in leadership roles at the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner. His most recent post there was deputy commissioner overseeing rates, forms, and provider networks.

Before his government service, Gaines worked for several national property and casualty insurance companies. During that time, he gained hands-on experience in various roles, including compliance manager, claims manager, claims adjuster, and insurance agent.

With this mix of public and private sector experience, Gaines is now set to lead Nevada’s insurance division through the challenges and changes the industry faces. His long history in insurance regulation and management gives him a solid foundation to build on as he steps into this leadership role.
