Howden, the insurance broker based in London, has taken a step into North Wales by acquiring local firm Gott & Wynne Ltd. This move marks Howden’s first branch in the area, expanding its reach beyond its already strong presence in other parts of the UK.
Gott & Wynne, located in Llandudno, specializes in property and casualty insurance for both individuals and businesses. The company is known for its expertise with Morgan sports cars and classic vehicles, along with a solid focus on commercial and property insurance. The firm’s leadership—Barry Wynne, Michael Clough, and Steven Goldsmith—will stay on board following the acquisition.
Kelly Ogley, CEO of Howden Consumer and Local Commercial, said this deal helps grow the business in the north while adding a high-quality, local team to their network. She pointed out that both companies share similar values, especially when it comes to serving clients and local communities.
The leaders at Gott & Wynne also expressed optimism about joining Howden. They highlighted that the larger group’s extensive presence in South Wales and global connections will allow them to offer clients better insurance solutions.
Founded in 1994, Howden operates worldwide, spanning 56 countries and managing $47 billion in premiums. They serve a wide range of customers, from private individuals to large multinational companies, with a workforce of 22,000 people.
This acquisition not only strengthens Howden’s foothold in the UK but also gives them new opportunities to support clients across different regions with more resources and expertise.
