Lemonade is expanding its car insurance service to Indiana, marking a new step in its growing footprint across the U.S. With this move, the company now offers car insurance in states that cover about 42% of the country’s market.
The choice to launch in Indiana makes sense for Lemonade. The company already has many customers there who bring in hundreds of millions in premiums each year. Adding car insurance in this state fits with Lemonade’s plan to grow its offerings where it already has a strong presence.
Lemonade’s car insurance business is picking up speed. In the first quarter of 2025, its in-force premiums grew faster than other parts of its insurance portfolio. The company also filed 24 new rate and coverage changes in just those first three months—a sign of its active development in 2025 after setting a record 29 filings in 2024.
Expanding into Indiana lets Lemonade reach more drivers and gives customers there a new choice for car insurance. As the company keeps growing, it seems focused on building its car insurance business steadily in select markets where it sees the best opportunity.
