Michigan Manufacturer Faces Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

East Jordan Plastics, a company that makes plastic containers for gardening, is facing a lawsuit for allowing sexual harassment to happen at its Michigan plant. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) says female workers at the Beaverton facility were harassed by a male co-worker. The harassment included inappropriate touching and sexually explicit remarks.

According to the EEOC, the company was told about the harassment by at least two women but didn’t take any action against the man at first. It was only after a third complaint that East Jordan Plastics finally investigated and fired the employee responsible.

The EEOC claims the company broke federal law under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bans sexual harassment at work. After trying to settle the issue without going to court, the EEOC filed a lawsuit against East Jordan Plastics in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. The case number is 2:25-cv-12302.

This lawsuit highlights the importance of companies responding quickly when workers report harassment. Waiting to take action can cause harm to employees and lead to legal trouble. East Jordan Plastics will now have to answer to the court over its delayed response to serious complaints made by its workers.
