Hill Country Underwriters has officially launched its new insurance program in Texas, aimed specifically at artisan contractors. This managing general underwriter (MGU) is offering a fresh product that includes General Liability and Inland Marine coverage tailored to specialty construction trades.
The new insurance is designed to protect contractors against common risks. General Liability coverage helps with third-party claims, while Inland Marine coverage safeguards the small tools and equipment these contractors rely on daily. The product is non-admitted and supported by an A- VIII rated capacity, giving contractors credible protection as they work on both residential and commercial projects across Texas.
This program is part of the MISSION portfolio, with leadership from David Henry and Matt McDonald. Both bring strong backgrounds in scaling insurance programs and a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by artisans and skilled tradespeople. Their experience helps create solutions that fit the real needs of these professionals.
For now, Hill Country Underwriters’ offerings are available only in Texas, focusing on contractors who specialize in niche aspects of construction. This move fills an important gap by providing insurance options that reflect the unique risks in artisan building and repair work.
By entering this market, Hill Country Underwriters is giving smaller contractors a better way to safeguard their businesses. It’s a step that could help more skilled workers feel secure and confident as they take on projects across the state.
