Two notable leadership changes have taken place this week in the insurance broking world, involving Consilium and Everest Insurance’s international operations.
London-based Consilium, part of the Aventum Group, has brought in Peter Coleman to its senior leadership team following the sudden departure of co-CEO James Baird. Baird was removed from his position this week and left the company immediately. Consilium has not shared details about his exit, citing legal reasons. Coleman joins Consilium after six years at Guy Carpenter Facultative, where he was managing director and global head of Placement. Before that, he held senior roles at Agora Syndicate and Ironshore. While his exact title at Consilium isn’t confirmed, he is set to be part of the company’s executive team. Meanwhile, Paul Richards remains as co-CEO and will continue working alongside Aventum’s CEO David Bearman to guide Consilium’s growth.
Consilium operates as Aventum’s specialty re/insurance broking arm. Aventum is an independent insurance group with 17 offices worldwide, writing more than $1.86 billion in premiums each year. Through Consilium and its MGA business Rokstone, Aventum offers niche insurance solutions across all lines of property and casualty risk.
On the other side of the Atlantic, Everest Insurance has promoted Mark Shaw to chief commercial officer of its International Insurance Operation. This move is effective immediately. Shaw will report to Adam Clifford and Jason Keen, who co-lead Everest’s international division, and continue working with Anthony Izzo, Everest’s head of global broking. Shaw’s role focuses on leading the division’s global distribution and client engagement efforts.
Shaw joined Everest in 2022 and has held senior roles including UK commercial director and global account lead. Before Everest, he accumulated over 20 years of experience with major insurance carriers in underwriting, distribution, and commercial strategy. His new job includes expanding Everest’s leadership team across the UK, Europe, and global markets.
Adam Clifford praised Shaw as a strong commercial leader who builds solid teams and drives results. His expertise in the UK and international markets will support Everest’s goal of growing its global distribution platform.
These appointments show both Consilium and Everest are making leadership moves to strengthen their positions in the highly competitive specialty insurance sector.
