MS Amlin and Allianz Commercial have both announced key appointments that highlight their focus on growth and expertise within the insurance sector.
MS Amlin, part of the global MS&AD insurance group, has brought on Gisela Nilsson as their new senior underwriter for political violence. Nilsson joins from Talbot Underwriting, where she spent years leading a team focused on political violence risks. She brings over 15 years of experience in underwriting, having also worked at Hiscox London Market. There, she played a role in developing aviation insurance and contributed to expanding digital underwriting in terrorism and political violence. At MS Amlin, Nilsson will strengthen the company’s credit and political risk coverage, a move that aligns with recent hires aimed at building a stronger global team. Jamie Cleary, head of Crisis Management at MS Amlin, said Nilsson’s experience will be a great asset as clients face today’s changing geopolitical risks.
Meanwhile, Allianz Commercial has announced that Nina Simons will become the first global head of MidCorp Underwriting starting July 1, 2025. This newly created role puts Simons in charge of shaping the global underwriting strategy for mid-sized corporate clients, helping to connect efforts between MidCorp and the larger corporate business. Simons has been with Allianz for over 15 years, holding various roles in underwriting, business analysis, and development across both Allianz Commercial and Allianz SE. Before stepping into this new role, she worked as a strategic transformation leader. Vanessa Maxwell, Allianz Commercial’s chief underwriting officer, emphasized how important Simons’ experience is for pushing forward the company’s strategy and supporting growth within the MidCorp sector.
Both appointments reflect a clear dedication to deepening expertise and improving service in important insurance areas. They highlight how MS Amlin and Allianz Commercial are investing in strong leadership to keep pace with evolving risks and client needs worldwide.
