Two notable appointments have been announced in the insurance and reinsurance sectors, highlighting fresh leadership at Aon and Blenheim Underwriting.
Mehmet Shukri has stepped up as the new head of UK Client Services for Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions. Based in London, Shukri moves into this role right away. Before this, he was the deputy head of UK Claims and Client Services at Aon. In his new post, he will report to Steve Clark, the global head of claims and client services advocacy. The goal is to enhance client support and ensure that Aon’s reinsurance clients get expert help with claims and services. Leonora Siccardi, Aon’s chief claims officer for Reinsurance Solutions, highlighted that Shukri’s promotion shows the company’s focus on providing the best service and coming up with new solutions, especially given today’s challenging economic and geopolitical environment.
Meanwhile, Blenheim Underwriting, a Lloyd’s managing agent and part of White Bear Capital, has brought on Alex Stratton-Thomsett as a casualty underwriter. Starting January 8, 2026, Stratton-Thomsett will work alongside senior casualty underwriter David Barber to grow Blenheim’s casualty insurance portfolio. He comes with 25 years of experience, most recently as lead underwriter for U.S. casualty at MS Amlin. Stratton-Thomsett has a long history with Barber, having worked together for 14 years at Chaucer. Barber expressed excitement about Stratton-Thomsett joining the team and noted that Blenheim’s independent structure is attracting top talent looking for meaningful opportunities in the market.
With these new hires, both Aon and Blenheim are positioning themselves to better serve their clients and strengthen their teams in a competitive insurance landscape.
