Aon and AXA XL have announced several important leadership changes that are set to strengthen their teams and boost their business efforts in key regions.
At Aon, the focus is on expanding their Commercial Risk team across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Paul Young has taken on the role of Specialty Leader for EMEA. He will be responsible for overseeing the sectors of Natural Resources, Transportation & Logistics, and Construction & Infrastructure. Young is no stranger to Aon, having worked there for 15 years, most recently leading the natural resources sector in the region.
Chris Chadwick is now leading Aon’s Transportation & Logistics team for EMEA. Chadwick joined Aon in 2012 and has a strong background in protection and indemnity insurance. His new role involves pushing Aon’s Global Logistics business further into European markets and working closely with the company’s Global Broking Centre to build a unified aviation and logistics portfolio.
David Brining has joined the company as the regional director for Power & Renewables within the Natural Resources team. He brings valuable experience from a 25-year career at National Grid, where he managed insurance and claims strategies for major energy infrastructure projects across onshore and offshore locations.
These three leaders will work closely, with Paul Young reporting to Luca Tassarotti, Aon’s head of Commercial Risk for EMEA, while Chris Chadwick and David Brining report to Young.
Meanwhile, AXA XL has promoted Shaun Wilkinson to a new position as head of International Casualty, Retail, UK & Lloyd’s. Wilkinson will take charge of the underwriting strategy for AXA XL’s retail and international casualty insurance portfolio across the UK and Lloyd’s markets. This includes leading the Casualty Underwriting Unit and supporting growth by building and maintaining strong client relationships.
Wilkinson has two decades of insurance experience equally split between underwriting and broking. Since joining AXA XL’s casualty team in 2020, he has played a key role managing their retail casualty accounts. Before that, he worked at MS Amlin as a senior underwriter and held various casualty roles at AIG and Marsh.
He will report to Ben Kinsella, head of Risk Managed Underwriting for Retail, UK & Lloyd’s. Kinsella pointed out that Wilkinson’s deep industry knowledge and long-standing client connections make him well-prepared to lead the division into its next phase.
Both companies appear focused on bringing seasoned professionals into leadership roles to drive growth and improve client services in their respective markets. These fresh appointments signal a renewed commitment to strengthening teams and expanding capabilities in critical insurance sectors.
