Marsh has made key leadership moves in its aviation and space insurance sectors, with Brian Glod and Tony Ambrose stepping into new global roles starting September 1. Glod will take charge as the global head of aviation and space, while Ambrose becomes the global chairman for the same business. Both will oversee Marsh’s aviation and space operations worldwide.
Brian Glod, based in New York, brings 35 years of experience to his role. He has been with Marsh since 1996 after beginning his career at Johnson & Higgins. In his new position, Glod will join Marsh’s global specialty executive committee and report to Andrew George, president of Marsh Specialty.
Tony Ambrose, who has 30 years of experience in global aviation insurance, joined Marsh in 2020. Operating from London, he will report to Dominic Samengo-Turner, CEO of Marsh Specialty UK, as well as to Glod.
Alongside these appointments, Patton Kline has been named the leader of Marsh’s U.S. aviation and space business. Taking over from Glod in that regional role, Kline will be based in New York and report to Michael Pellegrini, the leader of Marsh Specialty for the U.S. and Canada, and to Glod as well. With over 21 years in the aviation and space insurance field, Kline started his career through Marsh’s graduate program.
In other industry updates, FM, a commercial property insurer based in Rhode Island, has appointed Tara Long as senior vice president and chief information officer. Long will be responsible for guiding FM’s technology strategy. She comes to FM from MassMutual, where she held several top tech roles, including chief technology officer.
Meanwhile, Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers (RSUM) in Chicago has named Alan Ferguson as CEO of US Assure beginning September 1. Ferguson currently serves as president of US Assure, a position he’s held since 2019, and will continue in that role alongside his new CEO duties. He replaces Ty Petway, who is retiring after decades of leadership. Ferguson has been with Ryan Specialty since 1993 and was previously the chief underwriting officer.
