Beazley and QBE Insurance have recently made significant appointments to strengthen their teams. Beazley has welcomed Stefan Wunderlich as the new head of parametric insurance. He will report to Richard Montminy, the group head of property risks, and will be based in Zurich, Switzerland. Wunderlich brings over 20 years of experience from Swiss Re, where he focused on developing parametric solutions for corporate clients and managing climate risk.
Wunderlich’s appointment comes at a time when property risks are becoming more intricate. Montminy emphasized the importance of specialized solutions and effective underwriting to meet the demands of businesses worldwide. Beazley is expanding its property underwriting capabilities, having tripled its size since 2022. The company is also exploring parametric underwriting to create tailored solutions for clients.
On the other hand, QBE has promoted Adrian Browne to the role of director of Underwriting, Casualty, for the UK, starting January 1, 2026. Browne has spent over two decades in the insurance sector, with the last four years as QBE’s portfolio manager for UK casualty. He has been with QBE for 22 years and will report to Chris Wallace, the executive director of UK Insurance.
Browne’s promotion follows the retirement of Anna Bennett at the end of 2025. Wallace expressed confidence in Browne’s leadership, noting the challenging environment for casualty customers. Under Bennett’s guidance, the QBE UK Casualty team achieved a 43% increase in gross written premium through regional growth.
Both companies are making strategic moves to enhance their operations and better serve their clients in a rapidly changing insurance landscape.
