Willis and HDI Global have announced key leadership appointments that aim to strengthen their operations in Canada and the international insurance market.
Grant Williamson has been promoted to the position of Canada leader at Willis, a part of WTW. In his new role, Williamson will collaborate with the Canadian leadership team and work closely with leaders across North America. His main goal will be to drive growth in Canada through targeted strategies and improved local execution. With 20 years of experience in risk management and insurance, Williamson has a proven track record of delivering effective solutions for clients. He joined WTW in October 2024 as deputy regional leader and chief commercial officer. Before that, he held significant roles at Marsh and JLT Canada. Based in Toronto, he will report to Ionel Rizea, chief commercial officer for North America.
Pat Donnelly, head of Risk & Broking North America at Willis, expressed confidence in Williamson’s strategic vision and client-focused approach, highlighting his ability to enhance the company’s presence in Canada.
Meanwhile, HDI Global has appointed Phil McDowell as the Global Sales & Distribution Lead for International Programmes and Captives. McDowell brings a wealth of experience from his previous positions at RSA and Allianz. Based in London, he will focus on building relationships with global brokers and improving HDI Global’s offerings in international programs and captives. His plans include enhancing the client and broker experience through improvements to their online portal and launching marketing campaigns aimed at both local and global audiences.
Melanie Windirsch, head of International Programmes at HDI Global, welcomed McDowell to the team, noting that his expertise will be crucial as the company seeks to expand its reach in the multinational insurance sector.
