Ryan Specialty, a specialty insurance firm based in Chicago, has announced its acquisition of 360° Underwriting, a managing general underwriter focused on commercial construction. This deal marks an important step for Ryan Specialty as it expands its reach into the Irish market. 360, which operates from Dublin and Galway, will now join the Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers division.
The financial details of the acquisition were not made public. Founded in 2017, 360 has built a strong reputation in Ireland’s construction sector. The company is known for its innovative modeling practices that help manage risks and ensure consistency across its portfolio.
Thanks to its specialized approach, 360 has gained considerable support in key areas like latent defect insurance and owner-controlled insurance programs—both essential for the construction industry. Mark Birrell, executive chairman of Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers International, praised the technical expertise of 360’s managing directors, Paul Sherry and Tommy Byrne. He noted that their skills align well with Ryan Specialty’s existing offerings and will help the company establish a stronger presence in Ireland.
Sherry and Byrne expressed their excitement about the partnership, highlighting Ryan Specialty’s strong reputation in the construction field. They believe that joining forces will provide them with the resources needed to enhance their services.
Ryan Specialty, founded in 2010, specializes in providing a range of insurance products and services. The firm acts as both a wholesale broker and a managing underwriter, working closely with insurance carriers to deliver tailored solutions. This acquisition of 360° Underwriting is a strategic move that will likely benefit both companies as they work together in the evolving insurance landscape.
