Travel Disruptions Affect London Workers Following Power Outage

London commuters are facing major disruptions after a power failure affected parts of the underground network. Trains on the Bakerloo, Jubilee, Piccadilly, and Northern lines are either delayed or not running at all in some areas. The Elizabeth Line, which connects to Heathrow Airport, is also experiencing significant delays. While some services began to resume by early evening, many passengers are still feeling the impact.

Transport for London has confirmed that power has been restored, but it will take time for services to return to normal. A spokesperson from Transport for London mentioned that they are working closely with National Grid Plc to address the issue.

According to a National Grid spokesperson, the fault was resolved quickly and did not disrupt the main power supply. However, a brief voltage dip may have affected the low voltage distribution network in the area, leading to the outages.

This incident comes just weeks after Heathrow Airport experienced major shutdowns due to a fire that affected its main substation. Fortunately, a Heathrow representative stated that the airport was not impacted by Monday’s power failure.

On average, around 5 million journeys are made daily on London’s underground network, highlighting the scale of the disruption caused by this incident. Commuters are advised to check for updates as services gradually improve.
