Two South Carolina Women Accused of Fraudulent Hit-and-Run Scheme

Two women from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, have been charged with making a false auto insurance claim after investigators found their story didn’t add up. Unique Shavon Johnson, 29, and Jamela Janea Jolly, 33, said they were in a car hit from behind by a driver who then fled the scene. They filed a claim with First Acceptance Insurance Company in May and received over $25,500 for medical bills related to bodily injuries.

However, investigators from First Acceptance and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) uncovered evidence that the accident never happened. Both women were arrested on charges of filing false insurance claims and booked into Horry County jail on August 7. They have since been released on bond.

First Acceptance Insurance, a company based in Nashville that has been offering auto policies since 1969, was the one that processed the claim. The case highlights how insurance companies and law enforcement work together to spot and stop fraud that can drive up costs for everyone.

False claims like this one not only waste resources but can also lead to serious legal trouble. The two women now face the consequences of their actions after trying to claim compensation for an accident that never occurred.
