Volante Global, an international Lloyd’s syndicate and managing general agent owned by fintech giant Acrisure, has named Demian Smith as its new chief executive officer. Smith brings over 25 years of experience in the reinsurance and insurance sectors.
Starting his career in 1995, Smith has worked extensively across both broking and underwriting. He has a strong history of leading businesses through change while building collaborative teams. These qualities are expected to help Volante Global as it expands its global MGA and syndicate operations.
Before joining Volante Global, Smith spent five years at Guy Carpenter, where he led Mutual, Agency, and Captive Solutions and co-headed Strategic Partnerships. Prior to that, he was CEO of StarStone Group.
Martin Reith, who has been serving as chairman and interim CEO at Volante, will continue as chairman and support Smith in his new role. Reith expressed enthusiasm about Smith’s appointment, noting that his experience made him a perfect fit to take over as CEO.
Smith’s appointment awaits final approval based on current contracts and regulatory requirements. This leadership change signals Volante Global’s intention to strengthen its position in the international insurance market under experienced guidance.
