Specialty MGA Africa & Middle East has announced the addition of two senior underwriters to its team in Casablanca. This move aims to enhance the company’s presence in the African and Middle Eastern insurance markets.
Laila El Bahtouri will serve as the treaty senior underwriter. With 19 years of experience, including 14 in reinsurance, she is well-equipped for her new role. El Bahtouri is a Fellow of the French Institute of Actuaries and previously worked at Moroccan National Reinsurer SCR, where she led domestic and African property and casualty treaties. Her expertise will help the company grow in the property and casualty reinsurance sectors.
Mohamed Bader Bouanani joins as the senior underwriter for Specialty Lines. He has over 15 years of experience in reinsurance and holds an MBA from Texas Tech University. Bouanani’s previous role was as head of Specialty Lines at SCR. He will focus on expanding Specialty MGA’s market presence in the region.
Specialty MGA Africa & Middle East was launched in September of last year under CEO Youssef Fassi Fihri. The company is based in London and aims to connect local markets with the London insurance market, providing tailored solutions for clients in Africa and the Middle East.
In another development, DUAL Europe is expanding its marine business by opening a new team in Hamburg, Germany. This marks the third marine hub for DUAL in less than two years, following the establishment of teams in Rotterdam and Genoa. Klaus Weber will lead the Hamburg team, bringing over 30 years of marine insurance experience. He will be joined by underwriters Steffen Thormann and Tereza Alisch.
DUAL’s expansion reflects its commitment to enhancing its marine offerings. The company aims to provide comprehensive marine solutions, including hull and cargo insurance, to the international broker market. This growth is part of DUAL’s broader strategy to strengthen its position in the marine insurance sector across Europe.
