Missouri Counties Granted Federal Disaster Aid Following Intense Storms

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has declared a major disaster for several counties in Missouri following severe weather that struck from March 30 to April 8, 2025. The affected areas include Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Carter, and others. This declaration, made on May 21, 2025, opens the door for Private Non-Profit organizations that provide essential services to apply for disaster loans.

The severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding caused significant damage to public infrastructure and facilities. The SBA’s assistance is specifically geared towards helping communities recover from these impacts. Non-Profit organizations can apply for loans to address both physical damage and economic injuries. The interest rate for these loans is set at 3.625% for those who do not have credit available elsewhere.

The deadlines for applications are important for those affected. The deadline for physical loan applications is July 22, 2025, while Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) applications must be submitted by February 23, 2026. This federal assistance is crucial for the recovery efforts, allowing communities to rebuild and restore essential services that were disrupted by the severe weather.

Residents and organizations in the impacted counties are encouraged to take advantage of this assistance to help ease the burdens caused by the recent disasters. The support from the SBA will play a vital role in the recovery process for these communities.
