American Integrity acquires over 7,000 Citizens policies amid private market growth

Nearly 100,000 Florida homeowners have returned to the state’s private insurance market in the past two years. This includes the latest group of 7,087 policies that American Integrity Insurance Group took over from Citizens Property Insurance Corporation. These new policies bring in around $25.8 million in yearly premiums.

This shift is part of Florida’s effort to reduce the number of policies held by Citizens, a state-backed insurer. Laws passed in 2022 and 2023 have helped change the way claims and lawsuits are handled. These changes have made the private market more stable and encouraged policyholders to move away from Citizens to private insurers like American Integrity.

With this new addition, American Integrity has now assumed nearly 100,000 policies from Citizens during 2024 and 2025. On average, each of these policies has an annual premium of $3,640. The Florida insurance regulators have approved transferring hundreds of thousands of policies from Citizens to private companies this year, and American Integrity has been a key player in this process.

American Integrity’s ability to take on these new policies is also linked to money it raised from its initial public offering in May 2025. The IPO brought in about $81.5 million after expenses and got the company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol AII. The company reported a net income of $13.2 million in the third quarter of 2025, along with gross written premiums reaching $239.1 million—a big jump of nearly 49% compared to the same time last year.

Bob Ritchie, CEO of American Integrity, said the Florida reforms have brought back fairness and predictability to a market that was struggling with too many lawsuits. He said the company wants to grow carefully, support homeowners, and keep adapting as the market changes.

Beyond this latest group of policies, American Integrity has also taken on about 1,900 Citizens policies in the third quarter alone and around 9,200 more earlier this year. This helped push the company’s total policies in force to over 406,000 by the end of the third quarter, a rise of 48.6% from the previous year.

Founded in 2006 and based in Tampa, American Integrity mainly covers homes in Florida. It also operates in Georgia and South Carolina. The company’s recent moves continue the state’s plan to shift more homeowners away from the state-backed Citizens insurer and into private companies that can better manage risk and claims.

As the Florida insurance market keeps changing, American Integrity is stepping up to offer more homeowners options outside of Citizens. This will likely help bring more stability and choice to property insurance in the state going forward.
