GEICO is making big moves in Florida and North Texas by opening new offices and creating over 2,000 jobs. The insurance giant, which is part of Berkshire Hathaway, will set up a new campus in Tampa and expand its operations in Richardson, Texas. This growth is aimed at improving customer service and meeting the needs of a growing customer base.
In Tampa, GEICO plans to open its third office in Florida, joining existing locations in Jacksonville and Lakeland. This new campus will bring more than 1,000 jobs to the area. Angela Rinella, GEICO’s senior vice president, highlighted that Tampa’s strong workforce and business environment make it an excellent spot for the new office. The 190,000-square-foot campus will be located near Tampa International Airport and will focus on sales, customer service, and claims. Hiring for these positions is set to start in April.
Meanwhile, in North Texas, GEICO is opening a second office in Richardson. This expansion follows a previous announcement in December 2024, where the company revealed plans to add 500 jobs in the region. With this new office, GEICO will create a total of over 1,500 jobs in North Texas. Melissa Gallaro, GEICO’s senior vice president, noted that the talented workforce in the area has been crucial for the company’s success. The new 165,000-square-foot building is expected to open in fall 2025 and will also support sales, service, and claims operations. Once both Richardson locations are fully operational, GEICO will occupy nearly 400,000 square feet of office space.
Founded in 1936, GEICO provides a range of insurance products across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. With this expansion, the company aims to better serve its customers while creating significant job opportunities in both Florida and Texas. As GEICO continues to grow, it will be interesting to see how this impacts the local job markets and the insurance industry as a whole.
