Jewelers Mutual Group has taken a new step by acquiring EventGuard, a part of the insurance agency Indemn that offers event and wedding insurance. This move broadens Jewelers Mutual’s reach beyond jewelry insurance into event coverage.
The new program will be managed by JM Insurance Agency Partners in collaboration with Markel Group Inc., a carrier known for event insurance. What’s interesting is that the program will use generative AI to provide event liability and cancellation insurance, including coverage for weddings.
Mike Alexander, president of Jewelers Mutual, said this acquisition helps the company expand what it can offer customers. He highlighted the goal of creating easy-to-use programs that protect both valuable items and important life events. Alexander also mentioned the company’s plan to reach more customers with these offerings.
EventGuard has a unique history as one of the first insurance programs to use GPT-based AI technology. Indemn launched it back in 2021-22 to explore how generative AI could work in insurance sales. Since then, Indemn has shifted its focus toward developing AI agents.
Kyle Geoghan, co-founder and CEO of Indemn, sees the partnership as a chance for both companies to deliver innovative protection options to customers wherever they are.
This acquisition follows a busy year for Jewelers Mutual. In July 2025, they bought the personal jewelry insurance business of Jewelry Insurance Brokerage of North America (JIBNA), which had been offering coverage through independent agents since 2007. This helped Jewelers Mutual strengthen its position in a market shared by agents, digital platforms, and jewelry stores.
Earlier in the year, the company also expanded internationally by acquiring Jewellers Loop, an Australian agency behind Q Report and JewelCover. That was Jewelers Mutual’s first move beyond the U.S. in its personal insurance lines.
With these deals, Jewelers Mutual is broadening its insurance offerings and its customer base, combining new technology and diverse coverage areas to keep growing.
