Marsh McLennan announces strong performance for Q1 2025.

Marsh McLennan has started 2025 on a strong note, posting impressive financial results for the first quarter. The global professional services firm reported a consolidated revenue of $7.1 billion for the quarter ending March 31, 2025. This marks a 9% increase compared to the same period last year, with 4% of that growth coming from the firm’s core operations.

The company’s adjusted operating income rose by 8% to $2.2 billion, while its GAAP operating income increased by 4% to $2.0 billion. Adjusted earnings per share also saw a boost, climbing 5% to $3.06, despite challenges from foreign exchange rates and a tougher tax environment.

John Doyle, the president and CEO of Marsh McLennan, expressed optimism about the company’s performance. He noted that the revenue growth reflects strong momentum across their business, bolstered by recent acquisitions. Doyle emphasized the value clients find in their services, especially during uncertain times.

In terms of business segments, Marsh McLennan’s risk and insurance services, which is the largest part of the company, generated $4.8 billion in revenue, an increase of 11% year-over-year. The insurance broking unit, Marsh, performed particularly well, bringing in $3.5 billion, which is a 15% increase overall.

Regional growth was notable, especially in Latin America, which saw an 8% increase. Other regions, including EMEA, Asia Pacific, and the US/Canada, also contributed to the growth with increases ranging from 4% to 6%.

The reinsurance arm, Guy Carpenter, reported $1.2 billion in revenue, reflecting a 5% increase. Consulting services also grew, with revenue reaching $2.3 billion, marking a 5% rise.

Marsh McLennan is actively managing its capital, having repurchased 1.3 million shares for $300 million and repaid $500 million in senior notes that matured during the quarter.

Overall, the company’s solid performance in the first quarter of 2025 highlights its resilience and ability to thrive even in challenging market conditions.
