Most Fortune 500 companies are lacking in hyper-personalizing their job sites, according to a report.

A recent report reveals that many Fortune 500 companies are falling short in meeting the expectations of job candidates for personalized experiences on their career websites. According to Phenom’s "State of Candidate Experience: 2025 Benchmarks Report," over 80% of these companies are not providing the level of hyper-personalization that candidates are looking for.

Hyper-personalization refers to using artificial intelligence to tailor content, job suggestions, and engagement strategies based on how candidates behave online. Despite increasing investments in AI and automation, many companies are struggling to create the personalized experiences that today’s job seekers demand.

The report highlights that a staggering 87% of Fortune 500 firms have not implemented AI and automation to enhance their career sites. Additionally, 88% of these companies do not recommend related job openings based on candidates’ current job titles and skills.

The findings show that a significant number of firms lack essential features that could improve candidate engagement. For instance, 83% do not have chatbots to provide job recommendations, and the same percentage does not display recently viewed jobs. Furthermore, 76% of companies do not automatically detect a candidate’s location to suggest nearby job opportunities, and 74% fail to clearly communicate their employer value proposition throughout the candidate journey.

While the report points out these shortcomings, it also notes some positive trends. Most Fortune 500 companies are improving their website performance and job descriptions. About 96% of firms have well-written job descriptions, and 91% allow candidates to upload resumes and cover letters from mobile devices. Additionally, 82% offer a simple mobile application process.

Experts emphasize that companies prioritizing their talent experience strategy can see better hiring outcomes. Grant Smith from TD SYNNEX noted that a unified candidate journey helps answer questions and boosts brand awareness.

To improve the candidate experience, Phenom suggests investing in conversational AI and automation. These tools can assist candidates with questions, recommend jobs, and help with application and interview scheduling.

In today’s competitive job market, companies that embrace AI in recruitment are likely to thrive. Those that resist change risk falling behind as efficiency becomes crucial for success.
