Personnel Changes: Marsh Appoints Curran as US Surety Leader and Schweitzer as US Construction Claims Leader; Ryan Alternative Risk Elevates Havey to President.

Marsh, a leading global insurance broker based in New York City, has announced key leadership changes in its U.S. operations. Fran Curran has been appointed as the new U.S. surety leader, while Todd Schweitzer takes on the role of U.S. construction claims leader.

Fran Curran, who has been with Marsh for 24 years, previously led the Southeast surety practice. In his new position, he will manage a team of 100 surety specialists across the country from his base in Philadelphia. Curran’s extensive experience in the industry will be vital as he oversees this important area of Marsh’s operations.

Meanwhile, Todd Schweitzer, based in San Diego, joined Marsh three years ago as a senior claims advocate. He specializes in complex construction claims and brings nearly four decades of experience in construction claims to his new role. As the U.S. construction claims leader, Schweitzer will head Marsh’s dedicated team focused on handling construction-related claims.

In a related development, Ryan Specialty, headquartered in Chicago, has promoted Matt Havey to president of its alternative risk underwriting division, Ryan Alternative Risk. Havey joined the company in April 2024 as senior vice president of underwriting. Before his time at Ryan Specialty, he was the chief investment officer at Vermilion Development and has a background in corporate law.

These leadership changes reflect the ongoing commitment of both Marsh and Ryan Specialty to strengthen their teams and enhance their service offerings in the insurance and risk management sectors.
