Fire at Savannah Apartment Complex Kills Two, Displaces Ten

A fire early Sunday morning swept through an apartment building near Savannah, Georgia, leading to two deaths and displacing 10 residents. The blaze struck The Commons, an apartment complex located on Wilmington Island, prompting a swift emergency response.

Among those affected was 73-year-old Paula O’Brien, who was hospitalized but sadly passed away from her injuries. Authorities later found 45-year-old Karoline Motley deceased inside the building once the fire was under control. Firefighters worked hard to contain the flames, while neighbors stepped up to support those impacted.

The American Red Cross is currently assisting the displaced residents as they find temporary housing and rebuild their lives. Meanwhile, the Georgia Office of Insurance Commissioner and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating what caused the fire.

The apartment complex’s board conveyed their sympathy, expressing gratitude to the neighbors who helped out during this difficult time. The community now faces the challenge of recovery after this tragic event.
