Gallagher expands into the Midwest with the addition of Strategic Services Group.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has expanded its reach in the Midwest with the acquisition of Strategic Services Group, Inc., an employee benefits consulting firm based in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The financial details of the deal were not made public.

Strategic Services Group serves clients throughout Michigan and the wider Midwest region. Key leaders of the firm, including Doug Roehm and Greg Sudderth, will remain in their current roles and locations. They will now report to Brian Lomas, who manages Gallagher’s employee benefits consulting and brokerage operations in the Great Lakes area.

J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr., chairman and CEO of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., highlighted the acquisition as a move to strengthen the company’s capabilities in employee health benefits consulting. He expressed enthusiasm about welcoming the new team members to Gallagher.

This acquisition is part of Gallagher’s larger strategy to grow its presence across the United States. Earlier in the year, the company also purchased Imbs Holdings, a retail insurance broker in Missouri, enhancing its Midwest footprint. Additionally, Gallagher completed a significant $1.2 billion deal earlier this year for Woodruff Sawyer, a major U.S. insurance brokerage.

Since 2020, Gallagher’s revenue has more than doubled, and its total assets have tripled. The company attributes much of its rapid growth to investing cash flow into a series of acquisitions. Today, Gallagher employs around 44,000 people worldwide and holds about 4.6% of the U.S. insurance brokerage market.

With this latest deal, Gallagher continues to build its team and deepen its services for clients, particularly in employee benefits. The company’s steady expansion suggests it will remain a key player in the insurance industry for the foreseeable future.
